ABOUT MONOTROPA
Monotropa is a Prague-based design studio and brand that draws inspiration from a multi-local visual palette, creates an oasis of well-being, and promotes a slow and conscious lifestyle. It emphasizes natural or reused materials, high-quality craftsmanship, and simple distinctive forms. Monotropa moves between a range of different products and embraces highly rewarding interdisciplinary cooperations.
The name was inspired by a white non-photosynthetic wildflower called Monotropa Uniflora, also known as a ghost plant that gets energy from green photosynthetic plants with the aid of certain fungi, mycorhizal with trees.
Monotropa Uniflora represents a parallel to design creation as we can not stop ourselves from drawing from the endless resource of images around us. The seed of an idea often comes from elsewhere, consciously or unconsciously.
